Ladders

Pistol (Semi-Auto) and/or Revolver and/or Rifle Ladder
NEW SHOOTER/INTERMEDIATE/ADVANCED/CMP MEMBER/GUEST
It does not matter if you are just a brand-new shooter or an advance marksman. The goal is for improvement and community (social activity with other shooters). This type of shooting ladder is unique and has many benefits that can be enjoyed by all levels of shooters. These ladders are sponsored by this local CMP chapter to encourage all shooters to enjoy the sport of Civilian Marksmanship Programs.

Ladder Registration

Ladder members try to work their way up the ladder throughout the season by scoring accurately against other ladder members. If you challenge someone and win, you take their spot on the ladder, and they are bumped down one (1) rung on ladder. Seasons will last three (3) months. Each classification ladder is listed below.

Details
A cash award is present at the end of each session. Minimum of fifty dollars ($50.00). A required minimum of three (3) individuals for each of the classification ladders each season. Competitors will supply their own ammunition and required targets from the links below.

CMP LADDERS

How the ladder challenge works

  • Each ladder member must challenge any ladder member that is above them in the ladder standings at least once (1) a month. A person in number one (1) ladder position does not have to challenge.
  • Failure to challenge monthly will move you to the bottom of the list.
  • Both members must agree to the date, location, and time of the match.
  • Both ladder members must shoot the challenge at the same time. They can either use the same lane or two (2) lanes next to each other.
  • The higher ladder member will supply two targets of their choice of the possible required targets. Targets will list round count and distances. Targets may only be outlined once (< .25”) inside the original line. The higher ladder person can decide stand or sit (no external rest with Pistols/Revolvers).
  • Benched/Optic .22/Center Fire: both competitors may choose to use the option to recheck their optic with a sight in target prior to the actual ladder match.
  • Lever Action Calibers: .25 - .45 Long Colt Only
  • After the shooting is completed the two competitors will each sign both targets and have their targets turned into the CMP match director for scoring and recording by the director. The directors’ decision is final.
  • The match winner may possibly move up the ladder.
  • Each match competitor may challenge any person on the ladder in the same month.
  • To be eligible for a prize, each competitor is required the minimum of at least two (2) months of challenges per season.
  • Any person joining after the start of a session will be placed at the bottom.
  • A Required pre-season meeting/shooting for ladder placement prior to season. If a previous ladder member at same previous ladder, they will use last season’s standing (placement/handicap) for new season.

Monthly Defensive Shooting Challenge

Practice Makes Perfect!

The Role of Repetition and Drills Repetition is the heartbeat of mastery, especially with a defensive pistol challenge. Through repeated drills and scenarios, students engrain the skills into muscle memory, reducing reaction time and increasing efficiency in high-stress situations.

The monthly challenge is sponsored by the local chapter (GBCG) of the CMP. It is a shooting defensive drill/challenge that competitors may use to participate monthly. Each of the challenges are design to hopefully help each of us to improve our defensive shooting technique.

The challenges are divided into two (2) classifications (Carry Pistol / Defensive Rifle). Each competitor may choose either classification or both. Each month hopefully there will be a new challenge. You only have to pay the monthly fee if you have completed the challenge, so you lose nothing for trying.

You get to choose monthly if you wish to participate monthly. You may shoot the challenge as many times as you like for the month until you complete the challenge. You are permitted to shoot this at any safe location.

When you have completed and passed the challenge, please pay the fee of $5 CMP Member Carry Pistol or Rifle or $10 2nd Amendment Supporter (Non-CMP Member), and your target to one of the local CMP directors* (correct cash change is required).
